Art Genres Cubism-painting, in which perspective with a single viewpoint was abandoned and use was made of simple geometric shapes, interlocking planes, and, later, collage • Popart-art based on modern popular culture and the mass media, esp. as a critical or ironic comment on traditional fine art values. Parallelism art-Lines that are parallel run in the same direction, the same distance apart. Two lines that are parallel never meet, never cross over one another. Abstract art-art that does not attempt to represent external, recognizable reality but seeks to achieve its effect using shapes, forms, colors, and textures
My Favorite Genre • Cubism • a style of art that stresses abstract structure at the expense of other pictorial elements especially by displaying several aspects of the same object simultaneously and by fragmenting the form of depicted objects • Cubism was a truly revolutionary style of modern art developed by Pablo Picasso and Georges Braques
