  1. School Management Team Retreat August 29, 2017 Ms. Alcantara, Principal Mr. Murphy, Assistant Principal

  2. Agenda • Review role of the SMT and complete sign-off sheet • Review PARCC results for grades 3 - 7 • Why did we get these results? What are we going to do differently? What worked that we will continue? • Review IREAD and SRI results • Identify our School Strengths and Weaknesses • Review and discuss district goals/school goals • Review and discuss School Action Steps template • Review Grade Level Expectations • Grade Level Team Leaders and MTSS Leads • School Branding • 2017 - 2018 School Calendar

  3. June 2017 IREAD Results 2017 - 2018 Goal: Kindergarten - 80% or higher on Level B by June 2018; Running Records Level D 1st Grade - 80% or higher on Level C by June 2018 2nd Grade - Reading Inventory 80% or higher on grade level and/or meeting their growth goals

  4. What needs to be done to achieve these Reading goals for K - 2? Students should have same goal as the teacher and know teacher’s expectations Students should have feedback of achievement and growth Connection to the rest of the block Students need to see their results (visually via possible data wall) Education about Resources that are available through the iRead

  5. **60% of our 2nd graders moving into 3rd grade at or above reading level.

  6. K ELA Running Records results - Mrs. Reid

  7. K ELA Running Records results - Mrs. Blodnik

  8. K ELA Running Records results - Ms. Hill

  9. K ELA Running Records results - Mrs. Walker

  10. School Strengths and Weaknesses Weaknesses: PARCC results, intrinsic motivation of our students and staff, lack of understanding how important PARCC is, unavailability of 1 to 1 technology devices for students, limited recess, time constraints on lessons (not teaching to master), student commitment (some not as committed to their success both academically and conduct; not being the best person they can be), staff commitment (what one staff member expects is the same that others expect; consistency), preconceived notions of our students, levels of expectations of our performance as a school (aim higher), at times more pessimistic than optimistic Strengths: Talented students, great school culture, diverse student and staff backgrounds, great support system (everyone know its’ other), we care about each other, generally a fun place to be, student commitment in students who are so determined to do well, highly intelligent students, great collaborators, think outside the box, step up to the challenge when another teacher needs help, intelligent staff members, we all have our area where we are really good at and we know who to go to, not a competitive atmosphere in the school, we have good administrators

  11. School Strengths and Weaknesses

  12. District and School Goals • By June 2019, the Orange Board of Education will enhance and improve student achievement for all students, as measured by a minimum 20 percentage point increase on the PARCC assessments in Mathematics and English Language Arts per grade over the 2017 baseline (10 percentage points in 2018 and 10 percentage points in 2019) • By June 2018, 80% of students in all subject areas will meet grade level major standards, as measured by a score of 75% or higher on benchmark assessments. Additionally, students who have not met the standards must show growth, as measured by benchmark assessments. • By June 2018, 100% of all principals will, at a minimum, meet proficiency, as measured by the major QSR (Quality School Rubric) indicators. • During 2017 - 2018, each Orange Public School and department will develop and incorporate a brand and branding campaign with a lens on students and learning that is transparent, communicated and understood in partnership with all stakeholders.

  13. Review “School Action Steps Template”
