  2. Microsoft Word – User Interface • User Interface (UI) changes: • Improved Navigation Pane • The return of the File menu Figure 1: Navigation Pane Improved

  3. Microsoft Word – Backstage View • New Feature: Backstage View • Accessed through the File menu • Where files and the data about them are managed. • Options include • Creating • Saving • Printing • Inspecting • Setting Options Figure 2: Print environment available

  4. Microsoft Word - Coauthoring Enables multiple people to work on a document at the same time. Requires SharePoint or SkyDrive. Figure 3: Coauthring View a short video on coauthoring

  5. Microsoft Excel – User Interface • Improved Ribbon allows for custom tabs and groups Figure 4: Ribbon Customization

  6. Microsoft Excel – Sparklines & Slicers Sparklines are tiny charts that fit inside of a cell and are useful for displaying trends. Slicers pull specific data from a pivot table for visual filtering of information. Figure 5: Sparklines and Slicers

  7. Excel – PowerPivot add-on • Extend pivot tables to large data sets containing hundreds of thousands or even millions of rows using the PowerPivot add-on Figure 6: PowerPivotfrom the Microsoft Excel 2010 Product Guide p 17.

  8. Excel - Equations • The equation editor previously available only in Word has been made available in Excel • Add common equations or create a custom equation using a library of math symbols Figure 7: Equation editor
