Lesson Aims: The lesson is designed to show you how to create a NEW drawing file using a TEMPLATE drawing. Template drawing files are ONLY opened to modify any of the settings. A template drawing file has been formatted where all the types of lines, text, font, units and dimension styles have been set up for the operator. The final slide in the slideshow is a video tutorial showing the correct method for creating a new drawing using a template.
The Quick Access Toolbar (QAT) is displayed at the top of the AutoCAD window, next to the Menu Browser. By default it includes six frequently used tools: New, Open, Save, Plot, Undo, and Redo Create a NEW Drawing
Creates a new Imperial drawing with no formatting by clicking the Radio Button and then NEXT Creates a new METRIC drawing with no formatting by clicking the Radio Button and then NEXT
Lists all the Template drawings in the Template Folder Browser is used to locate a Template file on another drive or folder.
Displays the Drives & Folders Displays the Folders and Template Files on the Folder Sets the NAME of the Drawing File Sets the Type of AutoCAD File Creates the NEW Drawing
Displays Sub-Folders Lists the Template Files in the Folder
