(Anglo-Saxons/Vikings and UK counties and cities) • Spring – Is North and Central America the same all over? • Summer Term – How do the Niagara Falls region and North West of England compare? and Why was Samuel Oldknow important to our local area?   6. Weekly information letter (Fridays) – dates, topics, homework and spellings and AOB • Open Afternoon - Tuesday 24th September • Teachers available after school or make an appointment Communication

In school: • Daily Guided Reading (whole class) • Book bands and some 1-1 sessions • Daily Reading Spine, sometimes linked to guided reading At home: • At least 10 – 20 minutes of daily reading either independently or with an adult. At least 3 x per week with adult – reading out loud. • Reading record (signed 3x per week) • Promote reading for enjoyment! • Reading recommendations (Y5 appropriate – some mature language) (Focus on comprehension and inference, not just decoding) Reading

  8. Children taught in classes • Structure of unit: Fluency, Problem Solving and Reasoning • Times Table Rockstars • Beat That (Fridays): Time tables (arithmetic tests) Maths

  9. Maths – Set Thursday (due in following Thursday) • Spellings – Set Monday, due in and tested the following Monday • Topic – Once a half term from a menu (spelling importance and Year 6 SATs – 3/4 words, 5/6 words, strings and patterns) Homework and Spellings

  10. PE Kit includes: • White top, black bottoms (shorts/leggings/jogging bottoms), black jumper and trainers (for outdoor, bare feet for indoor) • Local Authority policy re: earrings. Child must remove earrings themselves/not wear them on PE days/cover themselves with their own plasters • Swimming each Friday morning between January 10th until April 3rd • PE days: • Monday – outdoor games • Tuesday – outdoor games • Thursdays – indoor dance/gym (PPA) • If anyone has any old trainers/white tops/black bottoms which are no longer needed but in good condition, please could you send it in so we can add it to our spare kit box. PE
