Iranian Seismic Network

Established in 1996, the Institute of Geophysics in Tehran University has deployed telemetric seismic networks across Iran to monitor local earthquakes. Access recent earthquake data on www.geophysics.ut.ac.ir. Discover the active seismic region and the network's crucial role in recording significant earthquakes, often missed by regional networks. Despite extensive coverage, some areas lack seismic monitoring, leading to missed important events.

  1. Iranian Seismic Network • From 1996, the Institute of Geophysics in Tehran university has deployed several telemetric seismic networks in Iran to monitor the local earthquakes. • Since then, many local earthquakes have been recorded and as a reliable data.

  2. Distribution of Local Seismic Networks

  3. Web Site: www.geophysics.ut.ac.ir

  4. Access to recent earthquakes

  5. Remarkable points • The region is very active and many local earthquakes were recorded by local networks that could not be detected by regional seismic networks in the region. . • Still there are areas that are not covered by seismic networks in the region and still we miss many earthquakes that are very important.
