KYRGYZ SEISMIC NETWORK KNET

The Research Station (RAS) Kyrgyz Seismic Network (KNET) was established in 1991 with 10 stations equipped with STS2 seismometers. Real-time processing began in July 1998. KNET's catalog of earthquakes from 1994 to 2006, using programs like HYPOCENTER and 6-layer velocity models, boasts an impressive RMS of 0.2-0.3 sec. With over 5000 events recorded, KNET is utilized by scientific organizations like the Institute of Seismology and the National Academy of Sciences. Research subjects include nuclear explosion detection, deep Earth structures, seismic wave velocities, and focal mechanisms. KNET's data are instrumental in studying seismic activity distribution, while also facilitating international collaborations. For more information, reach out to nelya@gdirc.ru or visit gdirc.ru.

Researches of deep structures of the Earth. Distribution of seismic waves velocities and velocity structures of the Crust of Central Asia. Studying of focal mechanisms and seismotectonics deformations and etc. Wide band seismological studies (grading records for studying distribution of seismic waves, spectra of seismic signals etc). Relationships between regional and global seismicity, and between weak and strong events occurring.
