  3. Yunnan's Geography • Very mountainous in northwest and lowlands in southeast • Has over 600 rivers and lakes • Has more than half the species of plant life in china • People live in eastern part of province

  4. Lakes • Fuxian lake- second deepest lake in china • Dianchi, Erhai, Lugu, Qilu, Yangzong, Yilong, and Xingyun are all lakes in Yunnan.

  8. History • It was its own kingdom till 906 A.D. • It was the biggest point for defense during WWII • Yunnan stopped Japanese from invading china several times.

  9. Wars • Guangxi war: success, it was fighting for power of the nationalist party. • Burma road: civil war, arguing whether to help British or not. • WWII: helped stop Japanese from invading china.

  10. Biggest peak, lake, and river • Changbai is the largest mountain in Yunnan. • Dianchi is the biggest lake in Yunnan. • Jinsha is the longest river in Yunnan
