  2. REVIEW: 1 Peter 4:77 The end of all things is at hand; therefore be self-controlled and sober-minded for the sake of your prayers.

  4. REVIEW: 1 Peter 2:11-1211 Beloved, I urge you as sojourners and exiles to abstain from the passions of the flesh, which wage war against your soul. 12 Keep your conduct among the Gentiles honorable, so that when they speak against you as evildoers, they may see your good deeds and glorify God on the day of visitation.

  5. Maintaining High Morale • 1 Peter 4:8-118 Above all, keep loving one another earnestly, since love covers a multitude of sins. 9 Show hospitality to one another without grumbling. 10 As each has received a gift, use it to serve one another, as good stewards of God's varied grace: 11 whoever speaks, as one who speaks oracles of God; whoever serves, as one who serves by the strength that God supplies—in order that in everything God may be glorified through Jesus Christ. To him belong glory and dominion forever and ever. Amen.

  6. 1. Love One Another • 1 Peter 4:88 Above all, keep loving one another earnestly, since love covers a multitude of sins.  • Proverbs 10:1212 Hatred stirs up strife, but love covers all offenses. • James 5:19-2019 My brothers, if anyone among you wanders from the truth and someone brings him back, 20 let him know that whoever brings back a sinner from his wandering will save his soul from death and will cover a multitude of sins.

  7. 1. Love One Another • Reflection Questions: • Who do you love but not necessarily earnestly? • Who do you need to forgive? • Who do you need to ask for forgiveness?

  13. 2. Show Hospitality • Acts 10:9-119 The next day, as they were on their journey and approaching the city, Peter went up on the housetop about the sixth hour to pray.  10 And he became hungry and wanted something to eat, but while they were preparing it, he fell into a trance 11 and saw the heavens opened and something like a great sheet descending, being let down by its four corners upon the earth.

  14. 2. Show Hospitality • Acts 10:12-1612 In it were all kinds of animals and reptiles and birds of the air. 13 And there came a voice to him: “Rise, Peter; kill and eat.” 14 But Peter said, “By no means, Lord; for I have never eaten anything that is common or unclean.” 15 And the voice came to him again a second time, “What God has made clean, do not call common.” 16 This happened three times, and the thing was taken up at once to heaven.

  15. 2. Show Hospitality • Acts 10:17-2017 Now while Peter was inwardly perplexed as to what the vision that he had seen might mean, behold, the men who were sent by Cornelius, having made inquiry for Simon's house, stood at the gate  18 and called out to ask whether Simon who was called Peter was lodging there. 19 And while Peter was pondering the vision, the Spirit said to him, “Behold, three men are looking for you. 20 Rise and go down and accompany them without hesitation, for I have sent them.”

  16. 2. Show Hospitality • Acts 10:21-2221 And Peter went down to the men and said, “I am the one you are looking for. What is the reason for your coming?”  22 And they said, “Cornelius, a centurion, an upright and God-fearing man, who is well spoken of by the whole Jewish nation, was directed by a holy angel to send for you to come to his house and to hear what you have to say.”

  17. 2. Show Hospitality • Galatians 2:11-1311 But when Cephas came to Antioch, I opposed him to his face, because he stood condemned.  12 For before certain men came from James, he was eating with the Gentiles; but when they came he drew back and separated himself, fearing the circumcision party. 13 And the rest of the Jews acted hypocritically along with him, so that even Barnabas was led astray by their hypocrisy.

  18. 2. Show Hospitality • Galatians 2:1414 But when I saw that their conduct was not in step with the truth of the gospel, I said to Cephas before them all, “If you, though a Jew, live like a Gentile and not like a Jew, how can you force the Gentiles to live like Jews?”

  19. 2. Show Hospitality • Reflection Questions: • What kind of people annoy you? • How can you move towards loving those people? • How can you arrange your home to practice hospitality more? • How can you arrange your schedule to practice hospitality more?

  20. 3. Serve One Another • 1 Peter 4:10-11a10 As each has received a gift, use it to serve one another, as good stewards of God's varied grace: 11a whoever speaks, as one who speaks oracles of God; whoever serves, as one who serves by the strength that God supplies—
