Primary duties and responsibilities • investment bankers work in investment banks, corporations, brokerages or small investment banking firms. They counsel clients on financial issues such as arranging capital, managing assets, trading securities and issuing stock.
Training/education requirements • Analytical skills • Specific valuation and financial analysis • Financial statement analysis • Spreadsheet modeling • Communication and writing skills • An economics, finance or business degree is a good place to start
Wage range and average wages • should range from $100,000 to $150,000 after bonus. Most of the major banks in NYC are offering a starting salary of around $75,000 plus a $15,000 to $20,000 signing bonus. Further bonus can range from $20,000 to $40,000 depending on performance. Starting salaries with an MBA degree (associates position) range after bonus from $120,000 to $220,000.

Why I wont this job • Investment banking sounds exciting and alluring. And it lives up to its reputation. If you're good at this type of work, you really can become rich. • "Total compensation can explode to $8 to $10 million. But can be very hard to start off.
