Option 2:CSU System (19%) • Examples: • San Jose State University • San Diego State University • Cal Poly San Luis Obispo • 23 campuses throughout the state • Applications: Oct 1 - Nov 30 • Entrance Requirements: • Completion of A-G coursework with grades of C- or higher • Qualifying GPA • SAT Reasoning or ACT w/writing
Option 3:UC System (11%) • Examples: • UC Berkeley • UC San Diego • 10 campuses throughout the state • (9 undergrad campuses) • Application Timeline: Nov 1 – 30 • Requirements: • Completion of A-G coursework with grades of C- or higher • Qualifying GPA • SAT Reasoning and/or ACT w/ writing • Two SAT Subject Tests recommended (must be in separate subject areas) • Two Personal Statements
Option 4:Out of State Public Colleges (16%) • Examples: • Arizona State University • University of Oregon • Colorado State University • Every college/university makes its own rules on eligibility and admission based on several components: • GPA • Course Rigor • Test Scores • Essays, Counselor and/or Teacher Letter of Rec
Option 5:Private Colleges (25%) • Examples: • Santa Clara University • Stanford University • Gonzaga University • Every college/university makes its own rules on eligibility and admission based on several components: • GPA • Course Rigor • Test Scores • Essays • Counselor Letter of Rec(School Report) • Teacher Letter of Rec
Where Seniors Should Be … • Nearly Final List: 6 to 9 schools the student would be HAPPY to attend • Probable (safety) • Target (possible) • Long Shot (stretch) • Remember the 80/20 rule • College entrance testing complete or scheduled.
