The top photo is from Mongolia and the other photo is from Timor Leste. • These photos show the synergy created by CSOs in these countries to establish an independent, democratic and broad-based education advocacy coalition that will engage their governments towards the achievement of Education for All (EFA) goals. • These education coalitions are currently supported by the Civil Society Education Fund (CSEF) which is an initiative of the Global Campaign for Education (GCE). In the Asia-Pacific region, GCE forged partnerships with the Asia South Pacific Association for Basic and Adult Education (ASPBAE) and Education International (EI) to serve as Regional Secretariat and Fund Manager, respectively. • ASPBAE has been very active in supporting the development and strengthening of education coalitions in these two countries and in the Asia Pacific region in line with its commitment to build an Asia-South Pacific network dedicated to advancing equitable access to relevant, quality and empowering education and learning opportunities for all people, especially the most marginalised. • I’m very happy that I’m part of ASPBAE because it gave me the chance to pursue my passion in organising and contribute to the development of a movement that will uphold social justice and education rights for all. • I’m currently with ASPBAE as a sub-regional Capacity Development and Advocacy Support (CDAS) officer for Mongolia, Timor Leste, and Vietnam under the Civil Society Education Fund (CSEF) Project. • I have been engaged in feminist activism and development work in the last 10 years. • I was a Senior Lecturer in the University of the Philippines College of Social Work and Community Development and Saint Bridget College teaching social work and the law. • With my post in ASPBAE, I work with broad civil society organisations and formations for the establishment of education advocacy coalitions in Mongolia, Timor Leste and Vietnam. This has given me great opportunity to advance our advocacy on adult education and uphold the education rights of the marginalised and disadvantaged sectors. • I look forward to a productive and engaging discussion in BLDC and may this event strengthen our commitment to become better advocates of adult education and learning.
