Balance • The young population represents 22.3% of the total population (censo 2011) • 14.7% Of young men and women live below the poverty line(censo 2011, metodología 06) • 30% of dissociation of thebasiccycle. (Contexto 3, ENHIA 2010-2030) • 17% of unemploymentin people aged 15-24 years(censo 2011)

  5. 10.4% of households with young leadership (15 to 29) has difficulty in gaining access to housing, i.e. paying more than 30% of their income on rent or mortgage payments. (Contexto 3, ECH 2009) • Youth demonization and stigmatization • Background: Weak Youth Institutions (technical, political and financially)

Political Priorities Strengthen the educational path of adolescents and youth in terms of reducing the dissociation and the lag in education, for the universalization of secondary education graduation. Improve opportunities for work insertion and employment continuity, with special emphasis on the young women (18-24 years) from the poorest families, under-qualified and living in the country. Strengthen the advocay capacity of the Uruguayan youth movement on the national political stage.
