Network • In my job for 1 ½ years • Collect data on Tmax, Tmin, Precip, Snowfall, Liquid water equivalent, Snowfall rate, Soil Temperature, Evaporation Rates, River measurements • Annual Budget is $1.87 M prior to taxes for equipment/ maintenance/ observations
Observations • Daily via phone, internet (25%) or monthly on paper (75%) numbers are dynamic • QC done at 122 local NWS Forecast Offices and other WSO stations • Data sent to NCDC for more QC • Bias developed for urbanization, time of observation and other effects • Data published
