What is a prototype? Service/ Experience Product Space Story Looks like Works like Interacts like
What is a prototype? It is the iterative generation of artifacts intended to answer questions that get you closer to your final solution It is creating a concrete embodiment of a concept which become a way to test your hypotheses It is building to think
What is a prototype? It is an attitude
FAIL EARLY and OFTEN (cost of failure vs. project time) (risk and cost vs. iteration curve)
H2prototype: SCALE RESOLUTION first pass final design for Gyrus ACMI, ENT Division
H2prototype: prototype resolution should match the progress of your development identify the variable you want to explore create experiences let go of your prototypes
test (or, OBSERVE again!) use your prototypes as a probe to continue to gain empathy for your users
why TEST? what new information do you have about how your solutionaddresses the need? what new information do you have about needs?
HOW TO test: PLAN let the user experience the prototype: set the scenesurrounding your prototype give a short explanationto set context act like a guide (not a lead)
H2 test: OBSERVEthe experience observe the experience: capture what worked, and what didn’t work see how users use and mis-useyour prototype listenmore than you talk to give users a chance to interpret
H2 test: let the user EXPERIENCE engagethe user: iterateon the fly to communicate learnings ask specific, open-endedquestions remember: the user is the expert
