History of our clubs History of West Chiltington & Thakeham Cricket Club • The original Club was established in 1921. • In 2000 it merged with its dormant neighbour Thakeham CC to create a more viable and competitive player base. • The Club began an ambitious youth development scheme in 2005. • We now have over 150 registered junior members playing in seven teams, in addition to our Saturday, Sunday and midweek senior sides. CLUBHOUSE REDEVELOPMENT

History of our clubs Development of facilities • Following a concerted fundraising effort, the club implemented a three year investment programme that included: • 2009 - Three new practice nets. • 2010 - Roll-on covers to protect the wicket • 2011 - Full-sized sightscreens • The club continues to raise money through a variety of sources to enhance facilities for the benefit of all members and the wider community. • The Club has been recognised as a Sussex Focus • Club and was awarded the ECB ClubMark • accreditation in 2007. History of our clubs The 2011 Season – Our Finest Yet In 2011 our investment of both time and money paid off handsomely with both adult league sides being promoted as champions of their respective divisions. The teams will now play in the West Sussex Invitation League Divisions Two (1st XI) and Six (2nd XI) in 2012. CLUBHOUSE REDEVELOPMENT

  5. History of our clubs The 2011 Season – Our Finest Yet Our Colts also had their best year ever with a number of teams being very successful in both league and tournament cricket. With the club’s growing membership, both at senior and junior level, we are now adding a 3rd XI to enable more seniors and colts to play good quality cricket. CLUBHOUSE REDEVELOPMENT

  6. History of our clubs History of West Chiltington Football Club West Chiltington Football Club was established in the 1930's by Hector Hornsby. Originally competing in the Horsham and District League, the club now has two adult teams competing in the West Sussex Football League, the 1st team in the Premier Division. CLUBHOUSE REDEVELOPMENT

Future of our clubs Future aspirations • The club is continuing to grow and is attracting new members all the time, in particular young boys and girls. • Whilst we have been committed to improving the playing facilities over the past few years, the clubhouse has not been given the same level of attention. • The current building is not fit for purpose and is in need of major refurbishment.   8. Future of our clubs The Solution • In response to this clear need, the club’s committee has drawn up plans to completely rebuild the clubhouse on the existing site. The plan includes: • Enlarged and improved changing rooms, including female facilities • A bar and social area which is conducive to a friendly, growing club • An extended outside viewing area CLUBHOUSE REDEVELOPMENT

  9. Future of our clubs The Solution This solution not only provides the club with much improved facilities, but also benefits the wider community. It will provide a building to be proud of that is totally in keeping with its beautiful surroundings. The project has the full support of the Parish Council, Sussex County Cricket Club, the Football Foundation and Fields in Trust. CLUBHOUSE REDEVELOPMENT

  10. Future of our clubs The Benefits • This project would bring a number of significant benefits to both the club and the local community. It would help to: • Encourage more boys and girls, of all ages, to play sport • Attract new members to both the cricket and football clubs and raise playing standards • Provide a social facility for the community • Visually improve a sports facility which is at the heart of a beautiful village • Reduce on-going maintenance costs, which are a burden to the Parish Council CLUBHOUSE REDEVELOPMENT

  16. Our Challenge We need your help The next challenge we face is to raise £330,000 to build this new clubhouse of which at least £100,000 needs to come from our own resources. The club has a lot of experience in obtaining and raising funds for various projects that have helped to improve the playing areas and facilities over recent years. CLUBHOUSE REDEVELOPMENT

Our Challenge We need your help Members of the club’s committee are currently working extremely hard to investigate every available area of funding, such as community projects, local and nationally supported grants. The club’s social committee is planning a full programme of events and initiatives to raise money for the clubhouse project. CLUBHOUSE REDEVELOPMENT

Our Challenge We need your help • Nevertheless we are looking to the membership and local community to help raise additional funds as the availability of loans and grants is extremely limited in the current economic climate. • For example, we need you to help us by: • Supporting the clubs’ fundraising activities • Making gifts and donations • Donating services or materials • Encouraging companies to make donations CLUBHOUSE REDEVELOPMENT
