Real Time PCR:Accuracy, Advantages, and Applications

RT PCR, i.e Real-Time Polymerase Chain The reaction is a laboratory technique used to measure gene expression and monitor DNA amplification in real-time. In other words, this most widely used method of gene quantification combines detection and amplification into a single step.

  1. VELA DIAGNOSTIC REAL TIME PCR Real Time PCR: Accuracy, Advantages, and Applications

  2. REAL TIME PCR RT PCR: A Powerful Advancement of The Old PCR Technique RT PCR, i.e., Real-Time Polymerase Chain Reaction, is a laboratory technique used to measure gene expression and monitor DNA amplification in real-time. In other words, this most widely used method of gene quantification combines detection and amplification into a single step. REAL-TIME POLYMERASE CHAIN REACTION,

  3. REAL TIME PCR Did you know? Limitations of traditional/ end- point PCR Technique Some of the limitations of an end-point PCR technique are: Ability to detect 10-fold changes low resolution, low sensitivity Poor precision Size-based discrimination Short dynamic range Non-automated

  4. REAL TIME PCR Advantages of Using RT PCR HIV Real-time PCR has dramatically changed the field of measuring, detecting, and quantifying gene expression because of its broad dynamic range, little to no post- amplification processing, and capacity to boast tremendous sensitivity.  Ability to detect as little as 2 fold change Little or no post-PCR processing Wide dynamic range of detection High Real Time PCR HIV test accuracy

  5. REAL TIME PCR Antiretroviral therapy Why it’s important to take RT PCR HIV test before initiating ART? Antiretroviral therapy (ART) consists of the combination of three different antiretroviral drugs that stop the progression of HIV disease within an individual. As the HIV disease progresses, the CD4 + T cell population within the HIV infected individual starts declining. Most of the time, CD4 + T cells are used as a criterion to initiate the therapy. However, the T cell is subject to variations due to sex, age, and various other biological factors, and that’s why CD4 + T cells cannot be used as the only criterion. That’s why it’s better to take a highly-automated test before initiating antiretroviral therapy.

  6. REAL TIME PCR Why RT PCR is considered to be the best predictor of HIV disease? The RT PCR platform allows for more than 30 validated PCR tests including RT PCR HIV test and plasma HIV-RNA test that: Depict the actively replicating circulating virus  Evaluate prognosis Guide Individual treatment decisions Contribute necessary information in early HIV infection Demystifying science
