RACING CANOE C1 C2 C4 War Canoe • Boats are very narrow • Narrow tip “cuts” • through water • Built for speed • Six meters long • Very unstable • Paddler kneels on • one knee and ONLY • paddles on one side Pleasure Canoe
White Water Kayaking Sea Kayaking Kayaking • Uses double blade • Many different types: • Sea kayaking • White Water kayaking • Slalom kayaking • Relaxing trip on ocean • Adrenaline rushing rapids - No rudder
Sprint Kayaking • Single is around 520 cm long • A bit wider than the athlete's hips • Not built for stability • - Have a rudder for steering -- by athlete’s feet • - Light weight • Double-bladed • paddle K1 K2 K4 INTRODUCTION TO THE SPRINT KAYAK
