The real question is why not? Walt Disney is considered a legend. A folk here of the 20th Century. The man had won 48 Academy Awards and seven Emmys. He also had honorary degrees from several universities such as Yale, Harvard, UCLA. There are other awards he had gained such as the Presidential Medal of Freedom, France's Legion of Honor and Officer d'Academie decorations, and the Showman of the World Award from the National Association of Theatre Owners. These are only to the name of the few of the more than 950 honors and citations he had received from every nation in the world. How did he achieve all this? He was a scholar. Why should Walt Disney get Scholar of the Year?
That quote alone should tell you that Disney exercised his intellect. The man seemed to be always thinking. If it weren't his unique and broad imagination, there would be so many things missing from our lives. Did you know that Disney was the one who invented cartoon animation? "Whenever I go on a ride, I'm always thinking of what's wrong with the thing and how it can be improved."-Walt Disney
"We keep moving forward, opening new doors, and doing new things, because we're curious and curiosity keeps leading us down new paths." -Walt Disney
"In learning the art of storytelling by animation, I have discovered that language has an anatomy. Every spoken word, whether uttered by a living person or by a cartoon character, has its facial grimace, emphasizing the meaning."-Walt Disney
"To all that come to this happy place: welcome. Disneyland is your land. Here age relives fond memories of the past, and here youth may savor the challenge and promise of the future. Disneyland is dedicated to the ideals, the dreams, and the hard facts that have created America... with hope that it will be a source of joy and inspiration to all the world."-Walt Disney
"I don't want the public to see the world they live in while they're in the Park (Disneyland). I want to feel they're in another world."-Walt Disney
“Art was always a means to an end with me. You get and idea, and you just can't wait. Once you've started, then you're in there with the punches flying. There's plenty of trouble, but you can handle it. You can't back out. It gets you down once in a while, but it's exciting. Our whole business is exciting.”-Walt Disney
“I don't pose as an authority on anything at all, I follow the opinions of the ordinary people I meet, and I take pride in the close-knit teamwork within my organization.”-Walt Disney
Money is a tool. "Biggest problem? Well, I'd say it's been my biggest problem all my life. MONEY. It takes a lot of money to make these dreams come true. From the very start it was a problem. Getting the money to open Disneyland. About seventeen million it took. And we had everything mortgaged including my personal insurance."-Walt Disney
