Activity: ANALYSIS How do you use the tools/strategies shown in the presentation at your school? What other tools/strategies do you use to review student data? Stand up: Sit Down: • Write down as many tools/strategies as you can think of on a post-it note. • The entire group stands up when directed. • One person begins by describing one of the items on his/her list. • Any other person that is standing up sits down if the given idea is the one he or she was going to share. • The group continues to share until every person is seated.

INSTRUCTION • Practice and strategies for written/constructed response (e.g. ACE, 2-column); CR self-monitoring • High-powered / High-yield strategies (what works!) • Use of state instructional materials; simulated tests • Alternate homework plan; home review packets (math, reading) • Formative Assessment/“Kidwatching” • Rehearse appropriate accommodations • Intervention sessions (during/after school; Saturdays) • Test and personal preparation tips/strategies • “Blitz” • Grade level standards review for 6-8 students in high school math courses (Algebra, Geometry)
Activity: INSTRUCTION What do these instructional strategies look like at your school? Check List • Check the items that appear on the list that you already utilize at your school. • Add details about how you use each item. • Add and describe any strategy that you utilize at your school that does not appear on the list. • One or two members from each table group shares information about one of the items on their checklist.

Activity: MOTIVATION What techniques does your school utilize to motivate students for state-required tests? Rally Robin • Select one person to be the recorder for your group. • All table members provide ideas as the recorder writes them down. • Select one person from your table to report ideas to the entire group.

Activity: MANAGEMENT In the months before the test and up to the actual test date, what type of strategies do you utilize to prepare students for state-required tests? (3–2–1) x 2 • Use two post-its. Label one “Stretch Run” and the other “Test Day.” • For each post-it, write down at least three ideas that you have for managing stretch run activities and at least three ideas that you have for managing test day procedures. • Share two ideas from each of your post-its with your table group. • As a group select one idea from “Stretch Run” and another idea from “Test Day” to share with the entire group.
