  3. Motion – Approve 2007 AGM Minutes Motion: • To approve the minutes from the 2007 CPRS Calgary Annual General Meeting

  4. 2007/08 Highlights Overall: • Strong financial position • Talented, dedicated, and enthusiastic volunteers • Continued increase in membership

President’s Report Highlights & Accomplishments: • Ensured financial health of Society • Focused on streamlining and implementing process for Society: • Established and reaffirmed job descriptions for all board positions • Worked with Treasurer to ensure rigorous budget process • Attained professional bookkeeping services • Built our student program • Represented CPRS in Community

  6. President’s Report Looking Ahead to 2008-2009: • Continue to increase profile of CPRS in Calgary • Drive member value from CPRS Calgary • Web refresh • Succession planning

  7. Accreditation Committee Volunteers: • Chair: Del Simon, APR Highlights & Accomplishments: • Congratulations to Richard Truscott, APR • Calgary’s newest Accredited member • Two members are preparing to write their Accreditation examination this fall

Accreditation Committee Looking Ahead to 2008-2009: • Increase participation in the Accreditation process by at least three members • Update the CPRS Calgary Accreditation website to make it more relevant to members • Expand the Accreditation Committee to four persons • Get at least two long term members to participate in the CPRS Maintenance of Accreditation Program

Awards & Recognition Committee Volunteers: Chair: Laura Bishop Lisa Frizzell, Michelle Reid, Sarah Woods Highlights & Accomplishments: Launched second annual Alberta Areté Awards in September 2007 Recruited 12 APR-accredited judges from across Alberta Opened awards to non-CPRS members across Alberta and promoted program through IABC

Awards & Recognition Committee Highlights & Accomplishments: (Continued) Received 55 per cent more applications than in 2006-07 Selected winners in the internal communications, award of attainment and student categories Formal awards presentation will take place at CPRS Calgary’s 50th anniversary gala on October 25, 2008

  11. Awards & Recognition Committee Looking Ahead to 2008-2009: Currently gathering feedback from judges and participants to improve program Planning to launch 2008-09 program in September Recruiting a sponsorship coordinator for committee

Communications Committee Volunteers: • Chair: Doug Lacombe • Volunteer writers: • Katie Clancy • Todd Andre • Stephen Doolan • Numerous guest writers Highlights & Accomplishments: • Redesigned HOTwire to smaller print format • Put out 3 editions in the 07/08 programming year with one more to come

Membership Committee Volunteers: • Chair: Tanya Ristoff Highlights & Accomplishments: • CPRS Calgary currently has 230 members • Welcomed 35 new members since Sep 07 • Many thanks to those referring new members • New CPRS Calgary info brochure developed / available to members • Established relationship with SAIT Journalism program • Student membership has grown by 60 per cent since last year (35 new students)

  15. Membership Committee Looking Ahead to 2008-2009: • 250 members by the end of 2008/09 • Working toward launch of a national student program in Fall ‘08 • Working with national Membership Committee on Member Referral program – Launch Fall ‘08 • Planning to implement exit survey process

Program & Professional Development Volunteers: Ericka Belleth, Leanne LeBlanc, Elizabeth Leitch Highlights & Accomplishments: Hosted 7 successful events based on CPRS Member feedback including: Attraction and Retention Work-Life Balance Eco-Consciousness and the Consumer M&A Communication Social Media 101 teleseminar Social Media in a Crisis Joint IABC/CPRS Holiday Party

  17. Program & Professional Development Looking Ahead to 2008-2009: Continue to offer high-quality, high-value professional development and programming to members on a regular basis

Treasurer Highlights & Accomplishments: • Established more rigorous annual budgeting process • Improved processes for approving and tracking revenues and expenses • Retained Associations Plus to undertake book keeping activities • Transferred funds from matured GIC: • $20,000 earmarked for 50th Anniversary • Savings account with 2.3% interest rate • $25,599 into three-year Springboard GIC with graduating interest rate each year (1.95%, 3.05%, 4.3%) Looking Ahead to 2008-2009: • Work with Associations Plus to make continual and ongoing improvements

Website Volunteers: Jodi Currie Highlights & Accomplishments: Conducted survey of CPRS Calgary members about the website – in partnership with MRC Communications students Most are happy overall with the site Would like to see addition of members-only section Updated invoice policy – invoices for job postings now sent on 15th and 30th of each month Began discussions with Clarity Content Management to update website Revenue from job postings (May 1, 2007 to April 30, 2008) = $26,900

Website Looking Ahead to 2008-2009: We heard your comments in our survey – Look for an updated website coming in September and an official launch in January, 2009 The new, fresh CPRS Calgary site will include a member’s only section. This password protected area will give members access to templates, additional information and discussion groups We are looking for additional volunteers for 2008/09 program year
