If not, should it? • P – PRESENT • Is God being unreasonable in commanding holiness? • Do you think holiness is unattainable in the 21st century? Explain your answer • E – EXPLORE • Read Isaiah 6:1-6 • Isaiah is quick to acknowledge his “unholiness” • God is just as quick to forgive Isaiah’s unrighteousness when he confesses his faults (I John 1:9) • We need God to become and remain holy • N – NEXT STEP • Do not allow pride to stop you from acknowledging your faults • Confess all unholiness before a holy God • True repentance is the first step to holiness • GREAT QUOTE • “Holiness consists simply in doing God's will, and being just what God wants us to be.” • -www.goodreads.com/quotes/holiness
P.A.W. Teen Resource Summer 2013 Lesson 1: June 2, 2013 Lesson Title: Holy, Holy, Holy Lesson Supplement: God’s Commandment to Us All • ADDITIONAL PRESENTATIONS: • YOUTH PROGRAM with central idea being: “God’s Holiness is Helping Me” • TEEN BIBLE CLASS that focuses on: “If You Can Use Anything You Use Me” • Read Isaiah 6:1-6, then discuss these points: • In this passage of scripture, Isaiah relates what he sees; a vision that gives him a hope that despite what is going on—God is still on the throne. As we take notice of all the violence, all the natural disasters and all the human suffering, we can become quite discouraged. However, it is imperative that we remember there’s a holy God who sits high and looks low. • Isaiah talks about what he hears; praises to a holy God. Despite what is going on around us, we must continue to give God praise. The praise must overshadow our current situation • Isaiah talks about what he fells. Remember (Isaiah 1:18) We should never feel afraid to tell God about our unrighteousness. Isaiah was honest with God and God helped him. God wanted to use Isaiah but Isaiah had to realized he needed to be “holy” so that God could use him. We are not fit to be used by God until he touches us. Once we have touched by the hand of God, no man has the right to tell us we are not good enough for God to use us. • Keep I John 1:9 close to your heart. • QUIET TIME • The cares of the world are often softened by the words of a song. • Clean Inside • (http://www.iamfan.com/~hezekiah_walker/lyrics/clean_inside-684653.htm) • Lyrics • Won’t He make you clean inside?

Teen Resource Summer 2013 Lesson 2: June 9, 2013 Lesson Title: Thank You Lesson Supplement: Give Thanks • O – OPEN • Begin the class with a corporate “Thank You, Jesus • There is no inappropriate time to tell God thank you • P – PRESENT • Despite our lack of goodness, God’s goodness remains • There is no way to fully understand why God does not turn away from us • E – EXPLORE • Read Isaiah 12:1-6 • Isaiah is full of praise because God has not given up on him • God’s anger is not forever • Read Micah 7:18 • Read Psalm 103:9 • N – NEXT STEP • When we think of the goodness of Jesus, we should shout, “Hallelujah!” • God’s holiness completely reverses all of our ungodliness • Praise God for being so merciful and longsuffering • GREAT QUOTE • “Remember, if you're heading in the wrong direction, God allows U-turns!” • - Allison GappaBottke • - http://www.goodreads.com/quotes
P.A.W. Teen Resource Summer 2013 Lesson 2: June 9, 2013 Lesson Title: Thank You Lesson Supplement: Give Thanks • ADDITIONAL PRESENTATIONS: • YOUTH PROGRAM with central idea being: “Thank God for Forgiveness” • TEEN BIBLE CLASS that focuses on: “ God’s Anger Does Not Last Forever” • Read Isaiah 12:1-8, then discuss these points: • Isaiah continues the process of reminiscing on the goodness of God. He remembers that he was in an undone condition and the Lord did not allow him to remain that way. God was so gracious in sending Isaiah help that he might become the man that God had ordained that he should be. • Isaiah wants to praise God because His anger did not last forever. We have a tendency to be angry with people who have wronged us for long periods of time. Isaiah understood God had a right to be angry with him because he was a man of unclean lips that dwelt among an unclean people. It was a pleasure to give God praise for being so merciful, for being so understanding and forgiving. • We should be just as ready as Isaiah to give God a great praise of thanks because He has not remained angry with us. He has forgiven our sins and for the reason we owe Him a praise. • QUIET TIME • Let the words of this song encourage your heart and bring peace to your soul – • Mercy Saw Me • (http://www.angelfire.com/oh3/kenskorner/mercysawme.html) • Lyrics • Beautiful! That’s how Mercy saw me. • Though I was broken and so lost, • But Mercy looked past all my faults. • The justice of God saw what I had one, • But Mercy saw me through the Son. • Not what I was but what I should be, • That’s how Mercy saw me.

We cannot give God a fake worship and think that He is satisfied. • God makes it quite plain that He is not fooled by what the people are saying with their lips. We are often impressed by long prayers, eloquent sermons and articulate vocal renditions; however, the only thing that impresses God is real worship. • God is not seduced by the grammatically correct words that come from our mouths if there is no intent of worship. We must be careful when we say “the Lord knows my heart” because He really does. We should consider it an honor that such a Holy God will accept worship from such an unholy people. • QUIET TIME • There are times the words of song will remind us why we do what we do – • My Worship Is For Real • (http://www.lyriczz.com/lyrics/larry-trotter/53463-my-worship-is-for-real/) • Lyrics • You don't know my story, • all the things that I've been through; • you can't feel my pain, • what I had to go through to get here, • you'll never understand my praise, • don't try to figure it out; • Chorus: • Because my worship is for real. • I've been through too much not to worship Him.

How does this tale relate to the truth of God giving His Best? (John 3:16) Mr. James Dillingham Young ("Jim") and his wife, Della, are a couple living in a modestflat. They each have only one possession in which they take pride: Della's beautiful long, flowing hair, almost to her knees and Jim's shiny gold watch, which had belonged to his father and grandfather. OnChristmasEve, with only $1.87 in hand, and desperate to find a gift for Jim, Della sells her hair for $20, and eventually finds a platinum fob chain for Jim's watch for $21. She found the perfect gift at last and runs home and begins to prepare dinner, with 87 cents left. When Jim comes home, he looks at Della with a strange expression. Della then admits to Jim that she sold her hair to buy him his present. Jim gives Della her present — an assortment of expensive hair accessories (referred to as “The Combs”), useless now that her hair is short. Della then shows Jim the chain she bought for him, to which Jim says he sold his watch to get the money to buy her combs. Although Jim and Della are now left with gifts that neither one can use, they realize how far they are willing to go to show their love for each other, and how priceless their love really is. -http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Gift_of_the_Magi QUIET TIME The next time you think about what you can give Jesus, think about what God gave us by listening to the words of this song! O, yes I can. • Make the mighty mountains fall into the sea by His command. • Not by any power of my own, but by faith in my Savior along. • I can do all things thru Christ who gives me strength. • I can do all things thru Christ if I have faith. • Doesn’t matter how weak I am or what I feel I cannot do • If I put my trust in Him, I know He’ll always see me through. • There’s no river too deep, or mountain too tall, no valley too low or ocean too wide. • Doesn’t matter how lost I feel or if I’m tired and all alone. • I just put my trust in Him and He will always lead me home.
