DNN Installation & 5.x cool(ish) stuff • I used 5.X for this install and was using a port other than 80 (8080) due to another web server running. • Had to set <addkey="UsePortNumber" value="True" /> • Installation was more extensive and brought in Licensing, very nice • Repair Installation … how cool!!! • Default .asmx was turned off, if you are installing a lot of modules you’ll likely have this issue • Can ignore restrictions as host during install, very cool! • Probably know this already but … • Host & Admin Accounts, be sure to rename this from their original and then register as host & admin and turn them off to prevent anyone from using them. • After installing and using the default skin, I normally like to remove all the visibility and print icons at once, running a small script: • update tabmodules set DisplayPrint = 0, Visibility = 2 where TabID > 56

SmartSocial Tips … • Once you are done installing you might consider a new Role for your Members but remember to remove Admin/Host from this group • Adding the modules is kind of weird if you add them all first … then configure it will save you some time • Ran into some trouble with the RSVP module … might not be configured properly • Consider creating an install template once you get it configured correctly
