7. IGC Mission Statement: The Inter Greek Council, at The College of New Jersey, is dedicated to ensuring and enhancing the quality of the Greek System and the collegiate community. We are committed to meeting the needs of all Chapters through providing strong leadership, education, and service. We strive to exude and abide by the values of fairness, integrity, and loyalty so as to enable growth and for the betterment of the community. To this end, we provide chapters with the opportunity to maintain a partnership with the scholastic institution so as to enable it to reach our highest potential. The Greek organizations at TCNJ are governed by the Inter-Greek Council. It is run by members of the Greek organizations on campus, with an Greek Advisor hired by TCNJ. Its purpose is to unite the members of the Greek community in spirit of mutual interest. It organizes and governs activities, highlights goals and opens lines of communication between the members of the organizations and the rest of the campus community. IGC (Inter-Greek Council)

8. IGC (Inter-Greek Council) • The College of New Jersey recognizes 29 organizations; 16 sororities, 12 fraternities (10 of which are NIC), and 1 co-ed organization. The Greek organizations at TCNJ consist of local, professional and national organizations. • The IGC seeks to promote leadership, academics, brotherhood/sisterhood, philanthropy, and proper recruitment/new member education processes. • The IGC also provides for an expansion board to allow further expansion and a judicial board to impose penalties on organizations who do not follow rules set forth by the IGC. • Academically, a 2.2 cumulative GPA is a required to become and remain an active members of a Greek letter organization. Also, first year students must have acquired at least 12 credits towards graduation. • The IGC also sets rules in terms of recruitment and new the member education process (in addition to following all state/federal laws on hazing and underage drinking). The recruitment and new member education process at TCNJ is strictly alcohol-free.
