Welcome to Elluminate 13 August 2008
Overall • What is it? • Use to date • Using Elluminate in Plan • The Future • Regular meetings • Webinars • Developing training • Linking to sharepoint – scheduling sessions, recording links • Potential use in promoting PALS (incl. PPM use) / Programme Effectiveness Framework / Global Programme Framework
Using it • Setting up a meetinghttp://www.elluminate.com/index.jsp • Katrina’s in charge! • Send e-mail • Preparing participants** http://www.elluminate.com/support/index.jsp • Encourage steps 1 and 2 at least • Need microphone and speakers (a headset!) and internet access • Logging on
Holding a meeting • Moderator rights • 2 facilitators • Testing microphone • Allow multiple speakers • Controlling microphone • Recording meeting • Uploading presentations • Ways of communicating • Talking – raising hands • Chat • Whiteboard / Powerpoint • Emotions! • Sharing applications • Switching between applications
Other bits • Away from session • Timer • Save Chat • Stop Recording • Recording link • Closing meeting • Other other bits (don’t know how to do) • File transfer • Polling • Create breakout rooms
Experiences • Sometimes microphone doesn’t work • Log off and on • Uploading multiple powerpoints have resulted in slides appearing in different orders • People get thrown out • Solo facilitation can get confusing! • Beware meeting times • Interaction is important • MAXIMUM 3 hours!!!
Follow-up • Elluminate site http://www.elluminate.com/index.jsp • E.g. Quick reference guides • LINGOs – Learning tools>Ellluminate http://ngolearning.org/default.aspx • FAQs • Live sessions ‘online training and facilitation skills’ • pm4ngos webinar on 20 August
