Embriologie: - la sfârsitul lunii a III-a fetale, peritoneul parietal se invagineaza înaintea vaselor epigastrice - diverticulii peritoneali se alungesc si formeaza canalul peritoneovaginal care se termina în scrot prin tunica vaginala - la sexul feminin procesul vaginal descinde pe directia ligamentului rotund pâna în regiunea labiala = canal Nück - testiculul împreuna cu elementele cordonului spermatic, în descinderea spre scrot, adera la canalul peritoneovaginal
