  2. Step1 Lead-in • Do you know what science fiction is? Science fiction is a type of writing based on fantasy and imagination. Science fiction writers often write about what will happen in ‘tomorrow’s world’. • Do you know any science fiction stories/films? Can you give us some examples? • Have you ever heard of Jules Verne or H.G. Wells ?

  3. Jules Verne(1828-1905) • As a popular French writer, Jules Verne is regarded as the father of science fiction. • His famous science fiction stories are: Journey to the Center of the Earth Twenty Thousand Leagues Under the Sea Around the World in Eighty Days

  4. H G Wells(1866-1946) • As an English novelist, H.G. Wells is well known for his science fiction stories. • The Time Machine • The Invisible Man • The War in the Air • The War of the Worlds

  5. Zheng Wenguang(1929-2003) • He is regarded as the father of Chinese science fiction. • Famous works: 飞向人马座 大洋深处 神翼 战神的后裔

  6. Step 2 Journey to the Centre of the Earth First reading 1863 the centre of the Earth a professor, his nephew and a guide They travel to the centre of the earth through a volcano and experienced a lot of unusual things there.
