Ah Puch -- the Mayan god of death, also known as Hunhau; Ah Puch ruled over Mitnal, the land of death. Ah Puch has been portrayed as having an owl head on a human body.
THE GODS& Godessescontinued... K’awil-- the god of sustenance; K’awil is the founder of the Mayan culture. He brought maize , cacao, taught writing, healing, and the use of the calendar. Coatlicue -- the goddess of the earth; She is mother of the moon and the stars. Ixtab --Goddess of the noose and the gallows; it was believed that Ixtab brought people who died of hanging, slain warriors, victims of sacrifice, priests, and women who died in childbirth to eternal rest in paradise. Ixchel - The Mayan earth and moon goddess, and patroness of pregnant women.; she invented the art of weaving.She is portrayed with a snake as a head-band and her skirt is embroidered with crossbones.
Tikal Tikal was a major city of the Maya. At least 10,000 people lived within its six square miles. Tikal had 3000 temples, palaces, a plaza, and other sacred buildings.
