  1. The New Course Embedded Assessment (CEA) Form …Goodbye Excel A 2011-12 In-Service Workshop by Dean Pam Koenig & Kelli McBride

  2. First, a little humorous analogy Assessment: Then & Now

  3. Assessment THEN The Magnum PI Analogy by Higgins Assessment is… • an inconvenient encumbrance • thrust upon you by an employer • that you have to deal with • even though it takes up your time, • accomplishes little, • but is occasionally useful.

  4. Assessment NOW The Magnum PI Analogy by Pam Assessment is… • Sigh… • The Ferrari • Beach volleyball • Giggle… • Mustache • Hawai’i • Sigh… • …Tom Selleck

  5. The New Form – Some Changes • 1 page (can spill over to second page if needed) • Preloaded information (semester, outcomes, etc.) • Locked form – tab to each box • Available online • Works with Word 2003 and 2007 • One comment box at the end

  6. Tweaking: nothing’s perfect… • The Assessment of Student Learning Committee has been working on this form for 18 months, sending out different revisions for faculty and division feedback. We worked hard to make this as “perfect” as possible for every division. • This form reflects 5 revision iterations reflecting any faculty/division feedback we received. • Several instructors used this form in Spring 2011 and found it easy, meeting their assessment needs. • Let the ASLC committee know ASAP if the form needs a tweak.

  7. Using the CEA form Your packet includes: • CEA Form Instruction Sheet • A blank CEA form • Information on where to obtain blank forms and how to get help • Information on the ASLC Committee

  8. Walkthrough: The CEA form in action • At this point, we will step you through the form, explaining the procedures, referring to the instruction sheet, and taking questions. • Faculty may want to make notes on their blank form. • To access this PowerPoint online, plus the CEA form and CEA Instructions, go to: http://kellimcbride.com/cea_form.htm
