THEMIS MISSION • PRE-SHIP REVIEW • ESA • C. Carlson, M. Ludlam, J. McFadden • University of California - Berkeley
Overview • Overview • Instrument Status • Problem Failure Reports • Calibration Data
Instrument Status • All ESA instruments are fully functional • There are no outstanding issues or problems for the ESA. • ESA survived the environmental tests and is ready for launch.
Problem Failure Reports • 4 PFR’s raised since last review – all are GSE/script/commanding related – i.e. not instrument related. • PFR 212 – Radiation source not correctly installed during F3/F4 Probe Thermal Vacuum. • Source was installed the wrong way round. ESA HV check out was still possible without the source. Problem was corrected for the F5/F1 Thermal Vacuum test. CLOSED. • PFR 213 – No 459 (Electron Burst Rate) Data being received during functional test whilst in Thermal Vacuum. • Tracked down to a script error. Script corrected and re-run and verified that 459 was received. CLOSED. • PFR 214 – Readback problem with MCP Housekeeping. At nominal setting the MCP HV supply incorrectly read full scale. • Traced to a problem in the ITOS database calibration for this value. CLOSED. • PFR 220 – Energy tables not written correctly. • During the uploading of the tables there were some commanding issues with the probe. The script was re-run from the beginning and problem was corrected. Tables were not reloaded for a full thermal vacuum cycle and no data corruption was seen. CLOSED. • All previous ESA PFRs closed.
