  2. Jamie Yates • Stage of writing: Prewriting • GPS: ELA4W4. The student consistently uses a writing process to develop, revise, and evaluate writing. The studenta. Plans and drafts independently and resourcefully. • PLO: Student will use a graphic organizer to brainstorm ideas for color poetry.

  3. Color Poetry • Form of writing: Today we will be discussing color poetry. Color poetry is a form of poetry that is all about colors. We will also incorporate our senses into our poetry. We will think about a particular color, and what it smells, feels, sounds, tastes, and looks like.

  4. Prewriting • The prewriting stage is the very first stage of the writing process. During this time, we are getting ready to write. We choose a color to write about, come up with ways to relate the color to our five senses, and also use this time to organize those ideas.

  5. Graphic Organizer The following slide is an example of the graphic organizer to be used during the prewriting stage of color poetry.

  9. Practice • As a class, students will choose a color and brainstorm ideas to create a collaborative color poem using the provided graphic organizer. The graphic organizer includes spaces related to each of the five senses.

  10. Assessment • Students will complete a graphic organizer independently to gather ideas to be used in their own individual color poem.
