  3. AIMS 3-8 Students in Grades 3-8 are expected to test in all content areas as determined by grade

  5. Not Enrolled Students • AIMS testing must be made available upon request for: • Home school students • Private school students • If non-enrolled students test, you must fill in the bubble on the back of answer document for ‘non enrolled’ (box G)

  6. Other Students Who May Test • Home School • Private School • Completer Students Do Not Fill in the SAIS Box, instead under Student ID grid, fill in their home phone number, 520-###-#### Need to mark the not enrolled bubble on back of answer document It is the responsibility of the school to send student reports or notify parents of the not enrolled student

  7. Stanford 10 – Grade 2 Each school selects any two or three days from April 7 - 11 All 2nd grades at each school must administer at same day/time on those selected days

Test Administration Schedules • All AIMS tests and Stanford 10 tests are untimed • Students must be allowed to finish testing even if the scheduled time for the test has elapsed • Be sure to have a back-up plan for where student will go who need more time to finish • Follow ‘Test Administration Directions’ for stretch breaks and significant breaks

  9. Test Coordinators’ Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities of Site Test Coordinator • Reading and following responsibilities detailed in Test Coordinator manual up through page 11 • Establishing test security procedures including signing of security agreements and a check-in and check-out system for tests • Correct administration of testing and providing training for all test administrators and proctors • Organizing, distributing, and collecting all test materials • Keeping Cindy Hurley apprised of any testing issues that arise

  12. Important Manuals to Read Test Coordinators and Test Administrators are responsible for reading the Test Accommodations Guidelines for 2013-14, AIMS Test Administration Directions, and Stanford 10 Test Administration Directions

  14. Test Security Agreement

  15. Test Security Agreement • Anyone handling the AIMS tests in any way must sign the security agreement • Security Agreements are kept on file at the school site for 6 years • The Principal’s copy is the only one that is returned to Cindy during check-in of materials

Test Security • Test coordinators are responsible for a complete inventory of all test materials upon receipt of test materials and throughout the testing process • Test materials must be kept in locked storage which is only accessible by a few key people(classroom is not okay) • Test administrators must return materials daily to site test coordinator and must sign test materials in and out • Alltest materials must be returnedto testing warehouse after completion of testing

  17. Authorized Resources • Dictionaries and thesauri must be available for the prompt section only of the AIMS Writing tests • These resources are not permitted during any other testing session • Translation dictionaries must be available for ELLs and FEP year 1and 2

Unacceptable Resources • Unacceptable resources include: calculators, electronic tablets, cell phones, and portable music devices • Test Administrators who observe students using an unacceptable resources are to remove the device, but allow student to continue to test • After testing and prior to student leaving testing room, investigate situation and notify Cindy if it appears a serious breach of protocol occurred

  19. Scratch Paper • Scratch paper is not allowed with AIMS • Scratch paper is allowed with Stanford 10

  20. Delivery of Tests to Sites March 24 – 26 You will be sent an Email when Boxes are on their way! TUSD

  21. Receiving Test Materials Verify all boxes were received Box 1 of X

Receiving Test Materials • Keep all boxes for return shipping • White boxes will be used for School Test Coordinator’s Kits which consists of Test Coordinator Manual and Labels • Brown boxes will be used for test materials • Each box of the shipment will be hand-numbered 2 7 of 7 6 3 4 1 of 7 5

Inventorying Test Materials • First Open Box 1 (White Box) • Pearson School Packing List is on top • Look at the total number of tests and answer documents listed for each content area, make sure it will cover your needs • If you are short materials, email Cindy number you still need ….deadline is March 28, 10:00 AM

  24. Inventorying Test Materials • Next Open All Brown Boxes - Verify that quantities in boxes match the Pearson School Packing List - Document discrepancies on packing list - Tip: Only open cellophane wrapped materials as needed – if don’t need, don’t open them up

  25. Inventorying Test Materials • Maintain an accurate inventory of all materials and some kind of check-in and check-out system • Test books and answer documents are to be stored in a secure location at all times – not in classrooms overnight

  26. Test Administrator and Proctor Preparation of Test Room

  27. Preparation of Test Room • Student seating should be arranged so that: • Students cannot easily see the answer documents of others • Test administrators and proctors can walk by each student. • Desks and tables should be cleared of backpacks and unnecessary materials

  28. Poster size: • Holistic Writing Rubric • 6th, 7th, 8th Math Reference • 8th Science Reference Visual Aids Allowed All other visual aids displayed in the testing room that could assist students while testing must be removed or covered completely

  29. Test Administrator and Proctor Test Administration

  30. Each Test Day Test Administrator needs to count number of test books and answer documents received. Test Coordinator should verify number of test books and answer documents that have been returned Secure Room

Test Administration Directions • AIMS and Stanford 10 are standardized tests • Test Administrators should be given the Test Administration Directions or Directions for Administering at least one day prior to testing • Test Administrators must follow the directions and read the script exactly as stated in the Test Administration Directions or in the Directions for Administering

Test Administration Schedules • Each site must set up a testing schedule for each regular day of testing…testing blocks must provide adequate time so students do not feel rushed • During the AIMS testing dates, AIMS testing is the priority • All AIMS tests and Stanford 10 tests are untimed • Students must be allowed to finish testing even if the scheduled time for the test has elapsed • Be sure to have a back-up plan for where student who need more time to finish • Follow ‘Test Administration Directions’ for stretch breaks and significant breaks

Day of Testing • Prepare an record showing who tested, was absent, or left early • Verify that backpacks and unnecessary materials, including cell phones, are stored appropriately before testing • Make sure testing protocol is followed at all times • Make sure that appropriate accommodations are provided to students who are allowed them

During Testing • Students should be allowed to work at their own pace • Active monitoring should consist of: • Supervising the room at all times during testing • Answering student questions that pertain to clarification of test directions • Checking that students are progressing through test and are in the correct section

Students Who Need Extra Time • Students must be allowed extra time if needed • Students should be escorted to the room designated for extended time • Students may not go to lunch – their lunch is to be brought to the designated room • Student should remain in the secure testing environment and resume testing after they have eaten

  36. Restroom Break Students may be allowed to go to the restroom, if necessary, during testing • Only one student may leave at a time • Collect student’s test materials before the student leaves the room and give back upon student’s return

  37. Leaving School During Testing • Students who leave school during testingAIMS 3-8 and Stanford 10 • Student will not be permitted to finish that testing session when he/she returns to school • Student may participate in other testing sessions that were not started upon returning to school

Inappropriate Behavior Shhhh! • Disruptive students and students suspected of cheating • Stop disruptive behavior or suspected cheating • Allow student to continue to test • Student may be moved to a different location so that others may continue to test undisturbed • Student may be subject to school disciplinary procedures after completion of testing • Document as many details as possible and report to School/District Test Coordinator

As Students Finish Testing • Students close test book and answer document • Place answer document on top of test book • Raise hand • Test Administrator will collect the test materials • Once test materials have been collected student can read or do class work silently • No electronic devices are allowed

End of Testing Session • Most students should have enough time to finish the test during the allotted testing session • Students who need additional time must be allowed to finish testing • Test Administrators will follow directions established by Test Coordinator • A testing session must be completed within the school day and can not be carried over to a make-up date.

End of Testing Session • Test administrator must account for all test books and answer documents at the end of each testing session • Missing test books and answer documents must be accounted for prior to dismissing any students • Double check that labels match student written name • Double check that if there is a label on the front that there is no gridded name or SAIS on the back

  42. End of Testing Session • Inspect each test book and answer document • Student name on front of test book and answer document • Test books and answer documents in separate stacks • All marks on scorable materials in No. 2 pencil

  43. End of Testing Session • Pre-ID label is affixed or demographic data is bubbled----NOT BOTH • Form code is bubbled on answer document • Complete accommodation bubbles in section K if standard accommodations were used

  44. End of Testing Session Test administrator must Inspect test materials using the checklist on page 57 of the TAD

  45. After Testing Session • All test materials must be returned to test coordinator at the end of the testing session. • No test materials may be left in a testing room overnight. Return AIMS Here

  46. Testing Incidents • Testing incidents that should be given to Cindy for review would include, but are not limited to: • Possible cheating • Inappropriate accommodations • Administration errors

  49. Accommodations All Test Administrators must read and be familiar with: Testing Accommodations: Guidelines for School Year 2013-2012

  50. Universal Accommodations • Universal test administration conditions that are in a student’s IEP or 504 are not considered testing accommodations so do not need to be marked in Box K of the answer document • May be offered to any student in order to provide a comfortable and distraction-free testing environment
