Overview eV-TEK • Two PCB layouts required • Battery monitor PCB • Main controller PCB • Battery PCB measures voltage and current for each battery pack • Need 2 of these, one for each pack • Data sent to main PCB over serial link • Main PCB collects, analyzes, logs, and transmits data
Battery Monitor PCB eV-TEK 2 x 2.075 inches Components generally placed where most convenient Digital and analog circuits separated Relatively large traces used ≥12 mils for signals ≥24 mils for IC power connections ≥30mils for power buses Decoupling capacitors near each power pin Most extra microcontroller pins padded out Linear regulator for power supply

Main Board PCB eV-TEK 3 inches by 4 inches Onboard power supply regulates 12v to 5v and 3.3v Power supply is in its own area Board is mostly low-power digital components Contains driver interface components onboard All microcontroller pins padded out Components placed to minimize trace lengths and via requirements Decoupling caps placed near each power pin Power traces 50 mils or greater
