Life is never lived in a vacuum, it will be filled (influenced & empowered) by something. Paul’s encouragement is for Christians to allow every area of life to be an opportunity for experiencing spirit fullness. Spirit fullness is a choice we make. Spirit fullness is inclusive. All believers can and should be open to spirit fullness. Spirit fullness is to be continual. Spirit fullness can be confirmed. Living By God’s PowerEphesians 5:18 – 6:9 March 27, 2013
1. The Human Heart (5:19-20) • When the heart is filled with the Holy Spirit there will be: • Spirit born speech – Mt 12:34; Acts 2:4 • Spirit born song – (v19) • Spirit born gratitude – (v20)
2. In Human Relationships (v21) Submitting is a military term meaning to arrange and to relate in proper order and sequence. Spirit fullness gives harmony in the heart and harmony in human relationships.
3. In the Home (5:22 & 6:4) “When the home is ruled by the word of God, angels might be asked to stay with us and they would not feel out of their element.” Charles Spurgeon
Spirit fullness enables the husband to love his wife and children like Christ loved the church. (v25-33) • Spirit fullness enables the wife to embrace the loving leadership of her husband. (v22-24) • Spirit fullness enables children to honor their parents in all things. (6:1-4)
4. In Hired Relationships (6:5-9) • Bond servants and masters speak of employer and employee relationships. Spirit fullness enables each to seek the benefit and blessing of the other.
