4. SAM Hierarchy—order of operations Create Section
Name of the class, must be created first
Add your chosen IC3 text to the section
Create Exam
Create your IC3 exam after you create your section
Create Assignment
Formerly called “Scheduling”, must be done so students see the exam assignment

6. Create Textbook Exams Click Add New
Click the Textbook Exam radio button
Click OK.
Under Chapter Subject, select Computer Concepts
Under Textbook, select either Practical Computer Literacy, 2nd Edition or Computer Literacy BASICS: A Comprehensive Guide to IC3, 3rd Edition
Under Select Textbook Chapter Exam(s), select the exam you want to create and click the right arrow. You have now added the performance-based questions (tasks) that are associated with the exam. The name of the exam will now appear under the New Exam Content area.
Click OK
7. Name It & Review Questions After you click OK, enter the name of the exam in the Name field on the Properties tab
Determine Public or Private
Public: other instructors can see/schedule
Private: only exam creator can use
Click the Questions tab
Under Source, click Testbank
Under Subject, click Computer Concepts
Under Series, click Basic or Practical
Under Textbook, if you selected Practical as the series, click the Practical Computer Literacy, 2nd Edition textbook to select it. If you selected Basics as the series, click the Computer Literacy BASICS: A Comprehensive Guide to IC3, 3rd Edition textbook to select it
Under Chapter/Unit, select the exam that you are currently trying to create
The objective-based questions for that exam will appear under Available Question(s). Click the Select All checkbox and then click the right arrow to add those questions to the exam. The questions will then appear under the Exam Questions area.
The exam is now created and ready to be scheduled! Click Save and Close.
8. Schedule the Exam Click on Schedule New
Choose the type of assignment you want to
schedule (Exam)
Find your assignment by using the filters
Click the name of the
assignment, click OK.
Give the assignment a name
Select the book you’re using
Select the section
Click the Exam Options tab
10. Reports Use the filters to find the proper Type and actual Report.
Check the proper section
Click Generate Report
Each column is sortable.
Results can be exported to .xls, .csv, .pdf formats.
