  1. Guide to replace a Volvo Penta Propeller Changing a Volvo Penta Propellers requires few tools and ways of supplies. Whether it is a part of routine maintenance, preparation for the motor’s, or because of the propeller has suffered damage from a striking object. First, turn the ignition on, but don’t yet start the engine. Use the trim to tilt the engine up and turn off the ignition switch and pocket the key. Now, shift the engine into neutral to keep the propeller shaft from turning. Then, use pliers to remove the pin also known as cotter pin from the keeper that holds the propeller nut in place. Use an 11/16-inch wrench to remove the propeller nut and slide the thrust washer and propeller from the shaft. Check the props to ensure that the thrust bushing has remained on the prop shaft. You need to clean the Volvo Penta Propellers Shaft, remove shells, fishing line, and other debris. Apply white marine grease on the propeller shaft and inside the prop’s hub. Slide the propeller onto the shaft and turn it as required to align it with the propeller shaft splines. Now, slide the washer onto the shaft and over the splines on the shaft until it makes contact with the propeller. Thread the propeller nut onto the shaft and tighten until it’s seated against the thrust washer. Then, you need to tighten the propeller nut to between 70 to 80 foot-pounds of torque. Install the keeper, turning it until the hole in the keeper that is aligned with the cotter pin
