We recommend that you read the same book 3 of the 4 nights so your child can gain deeper understanding. Homework is provided a month at a time, however, we ask that you do not work ahead in the homework since it is intended to reinforce what your child is learning in class that week. • : Your child will also be receiving sight word rings. Sight words are to be memorized, not sounded out. There is no time requirement for sight words.

  6. Reading Counts • We will make every attempt to ensure your child chooses a reading counts book from the Library. However, if you choose a book from home you can check to see if it is on the approved reading counts list by visiting the Media Center tab on the Clark Creek website, click on Scholastic Reading Counts Online Booklist for a complete listing by title, author or keyword. Kindergarten will begin RC with a student as he/she is able to read a book independently on his/her level.

  7. Clark Creek Red Hawks Expectations H – Have respect at all times A – Act responsibly W – Work hard and stay focused K – Keep trying your best S – Show self-control

  8. Behavior Chart Gold- Students who go the “extra mile” in class and school will receive extra recognition by changing their color to gold for the day. If a child goes home on this color it is an honor and should be commended. Blue-Students who go home on blue have exhibited behavior above and beyond what is expected. Green- Each child will start the day on green and will remain on green by following the HAWK expectations. Yellow-When the student is on yellow, he or she had a good day with no more than one verbal redirection. Red- Red indicates that the student had multiple redirections and is not demonstrating HAWK behavior. If a student goes home on red, parent contact will be initiated through phone call or a note home describing the behavior difficulties and any consequences that have already been met at school.
