  2. Key Questions What were three acts passed by the British? Why did the colonists oppose the Declaratory Act? What was the result of the Townshend Acts? What was the result of the Coercive Acts? Which Act do you believe was the most offensive? Why?

  3. The Boston Massacre, May 5th 1770 Colonists furious over the Townshend Acts. English troops fired on a rowdy colonial crowd, killing five, in Boston. Result: Further enraged colonists against British Rule.

  4. The Boston Tea Party Colonial Reaction to the Tea Act, 1773. Colonists, disguised as Native Americans, dumped 10,000 pounds of tea into the Boston Harbor. Result: Led to the “Intolerable Acts.” Which included The Boston Port Act. This closed Boston’s Port until the debt of the tea was paid for.

  5. First Continental Congress Colonists met at Carpenters Hall in Philadelphia. There was no talk of breaking away from Great Britain, they wanted to fix the problem. Issued the Declaration of Rights and Grievances.
