I began my educational journey earning my bachelor’s of science degree in English from Xavier University of Louisiana. Xavier University of Louisana A Tradition of Excellence
After graduating from Xavier, I briefly attended Howard University where I began working of my master’s degree in English literature.However……………..
after working as a long-term substitute teacher and attending outdoor education, I realized I enjoyed working more than students than spending time in the library.
Working as a long-term substitute teacher, I was able to earn my master’s degree in secondary education though Johns Hopkins University PROMAT program.
After teaching in Montgomery County Public Schools for several years, the growth of my young family caused me to switch to the Anne Arundel County Public School System which is closer to my home.
During my second year of teaching at AACPS, I began taking online courses with Johns Hopkins University partnership program with the International Society for Technology in Education (ISTE) to earn my Administration & Supervision certificate. As a member of the JHU-ISTE cohort, I was able to participate in the National Education & Computer Conference (NECC) in Atlanta, Georgia, and San Antonio, Texas. NECC in 2007 & 2008
After finishing up my online coursework, I recognized in order for me to fully understand the role of an educational leader that I needed to continue to my education.
