caXchange: An integration of CCTS with OpenClinica Harsh Marwaha, Kunal Modi, Ajay Nalamala, Kalpesh Patel – Ekagra Software Technologies Scott Jones, Dan Sobkoviak, Umit Topaloglu – University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences Christo Andonyadis, John Speakman – NCI CBIIT Overview Highlights The University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS) adopted the Cancer Clinical Trials Suite (CCTS) of applications to enhance and automate their business processes for managing clinical trials. This adoption involved integration of the CCTS applications (C3PR and caAERS) with OpenClinica and legacy applications at UAMS, using caXchange. The following caXchange tools and features were used to securely integrate OpenClinica with CCTS: reliable transactions, reliable messaging, generic consumer service, and externalized configuration. OpenClinica was integrated with caGrid webSSO, to provide a single sign on solution, to UAMS, between CCTS suite and OpenClinica. • OpenClinica CCTS plugin maps the Biomedical Research Integrated Domain Group (BRIDG) model based ‘Register Subject’ message to OpenClinica • caXchange Generic Consumer Service is used to securely integrate OpenClinica • caXchange externalized configuration is used to remove C3D and replace it with OpenClinica for ‘Register Subject’ notifications • caXchange is used to configure reliable transactions for the OpenClinica consumer service • OpenClinica web application is integrated with the CCTS’s single sign on using webSSO OpenClinica – CCTS Integration Products Leveraged • caXchange • caXchange Generic Consumer Service • OpenClinica • caGrid webSSO C3PR-Cancer Central Clinical Participant Registry caAERS-Cancer Central Clinical Database CTODS DB-Clinical Trials Object Data System Database webSSO-Web Single Sign On caAERS Internet Browser webSSO 1 4 2 caXchange OpenClinica webSSO Client 2 C3PR 1 1 • OpenClinica OpenClinica Plugin 2 3 caXchange Generic Consumer Service Lessons Learned 3 1 4 Implemented Scenarios Potential Future Scenarios • Integration took more time than anticipated because of the complexities involved in mapping the registration message to the OpenClinica message • The deployment process of the products involved is not integrated. More time than anticipated was spent in deployment and testing Protocol Registry Lab Viewer 1. Study Creation (BRIDG Based) Register Subject (BRIDG Based) Lab data for Clinical Data Management System Lab based Adverse Event Future Directions CTODSDB • Transformation of the BRIDG based register subject messages to OpenClinica can be externalized using the new caXchange transformation component • Enhance OpenClinica and integrate with CCTS to receive the CCTS Study Creation message • Enhance OpenClinica and integrate with CCTS to receive the CCTS Load Lab message Contact Information Name: Harsh Marwaha Name: Ajay Nalamala Email: hmarwaha@ekagrasoft.com Email: analamala@ekagrasoft.com
