  1. 11 October, 1492 Dear Family, Our ship has been sailing for two and a half months! Christopher Columbus , our captain is being very difficult. Its been a very long ride, and it’s getting hotter. We are very tired since we only get three breaks; one for breakfast, one for dinner, and one for supper. We are starting to see sticks and twigs, so we think we are getting close to land ! Got to go!   2. 12 October, 1492 Dear Family, We found land today! The people here are very strange. They are called Tainos. They are nearly naked and not very smart. One man picked up a sword by the blade! The Tainoslive in houses made of leaves and sleep in hammock beds. We traded them hawks bells, and small beads for parrots, balls of cotton and spears . See you when I get home. Sincerely, Jenna
