First DMAC Meeting • Held February 4th - 5th in St. Petersburg, Florida • 14 people attended • Representatives from All PITs participated • Discussion topics: membership, governance, charter, current data management needs and activities, and long and short term goals • EPA presentation on Chesapeake Bay Program Partnership Data Management
DMAC Mission Statement (DRAFT) The Data Management Advisory Committee provides guidance to the Gulf of Mexico Alliance to facilitate the efficient preservation and use of data for promoting the ecological and economic health of the Gulf of Mexico.
Goals and Objectives of the DMAC (DRAFT) • Goals: • Develop, maintain, and implement an evolving plan for the efficient preservation, discovery, and use of data and information in the Gulf of Mexico Alliance (GOMA). • Objectives: • 1.1 Continually review GOMA data management requirements • 1.2 Develop a 5-year strategic plan • 1.3 Develop and oversee a data management process • 1.4 Develop and oversee a data archive process
Goals and Objectives of the DMAC Cont. (DRAFT) • Goals: • 2. Enable collaboration in the area of data management among thePriority Issue Teams (PITs) of the GOMA • Objectives: • 2.1 Develop and implement a communications strategy • 2.2 Seek funding to support data management needs • 2.3 Facilitate the identification and development of tools and procedures for making data useable across PITs.
