  1. Site License Advisory Team October 30, 2015 meeting

  2. Agenda • Microsoft Updates • Windows 10 • Office 2016 • Adobe DPS and Adobe for Students • Renewals • SAS, Secunia, Sigmaplot, Adobe, JMP, Maple • Support Updates • ExamSoft • Purchasing Updates: • Bids for enterprise-wide technology products • Update on Hardware

  3. Microsoft Windows 10 • KMS Servers Updated • Education and Enterprise editions available in Self Service for SLSC’s • IT Service Desk recommends Enterprise edition for Faculty and Staff machines • Microsoft now recommends skipping Windows 8 if you have not deployed

  4. Microsoft Office 2016 • Office 2016 is available to SLSC’s • Both Windows and Mac versions • Office 2016 interacts with Office 365: if you have a consumer license and log in with that MS account, it will “tick off” one consumer license. • You can skip this step, but it may nag your user for a login • ITSD has tested both versions, and you can get them now • KMS Servers updated

  5. Adobe CC for Students • Adobe is very interested in providing their software to students, and the pricing is about right • $15/student FTE/year • There is no central funding for this • Deadline: middle of Nov. • This might allow us to update our CC license with other items • TypeKit, Stock, Captivate, etc.

  6. Adobe Digital Publishing Solution (DPS) • Adobe has offered enterprise-wide usage of Adobe DPS • $150,000/year to cover the campus • Includes the creation of unlimited apps, including students in the classroom • Used primarily on campuses for advancement, athletics, and alumni purposes, and is a revenue generator • Excellent for marketability of students as well • Engineering, Athletics, University Communications, Journalism have expressed immediate interest

  7. Renewals • SAS – complete, pending codes • Secunia – complete • Adobe – in progress • Sigmaplot – in progress • JMP – in progress • Maple – in progress

  8. Renewals: SAS • Codes should begin to provide warnings Nov. 15 • Codes will continue to work until Dec. 31 (hard fail) • Codes are expected shortly (within the next two weeks) • Funding gap to be resolved via FTE distribution • Assuming this continues, we should see faster renewals in future years • We have not determined how to manage Admin copies, but are discussing with the vendor

  9. Renewals: Secunia • Renewal complete • Secunia was purchased by Flexera in the last weekend in October • Appears to be undergoing a rebranding effort • We are working with Secunia to ensure no loss of service after midnight, Oct. 31

  10. Renewals: Adobe CC • Adobe CC is up for renewal this month • Year 2 of a 3-year contract • No price change/increase • We are updating Adobe on the number of FTE’s for this license • There are no new codes or processes to update • TechHub is working to handle home use distribution

  13. Possible Site License: ExamSoft • ExamSoft offered pricing is as follows: • $8/student/year at 30,000 users • Support separate • Currently, we have 5,000 active test takers at $40-45/taker • Current spend: in excess of $200,000 • We believe our current need is for 10k test takers
