8. MAYA Lived in Central America and Southern Mexico
Their civilization thrived from
A.D. 250-A.D. 900
Participated in human sacrifice to gods
Worshiped many Gods
Many Maya suddenly left their cities; no one knows exactly why…crop failure, war, disease, drought, famine, or rebellion against priest or nobles.
Maya still live in the region today!

Developed Hieroglyphics: a system of writing using signs and symbols
