A theory of change approach • Identifying a series of results which will lead to the ultimate goal (the inclusive college) • Understanding how change happens – (cause and effect) • Evaluating the impact of our actions (demonstrating change) • Refining plans and actions (iterative process) BSV Associates Ltd 6

Cause and effect • Overcoming the ‘so what?’ factor • Understanding how change happens: • Relationship between actions and change / results at each stage • Will the actions identified really deliver the intended change/ equality outcome? • Is it clear what comes next? BSV Associates Ltd 10
Evidencing change • Identify sources of evidence for each change stage • Are there additional sources of evidence that need to be investigated? • Wherever possible collect data on an ongoing basis • Don’t be frightened of anecdotal evidence BSV Associates Ltd 11
