  2. Check List Turn To Page 9 Check off all courses that you have successfully passed If you took a class but did not pass it, you will need to take the course again during summer school.

  3. Tartan 4 Year Plan • Turn to page 54 and write in all the classes you are taking during 9th grade.

  4. Recommended Course of Study Grade 10 English 10 (3) World History (3) Geometry (3) Biology (3) *Phys. Ed *Arts Electives *Arts/Phys. Ed can also be taken as a Junior or Senior

  5. Required Courses English (pg. 30) • English 10A, 10B, 10C • Accelerated English 10A, 10B, 10C* *expected to take AP Language as juniors & AP Literature as seniors Students should discuss their options with their current English teacher if they have questions

  6. Required Courses • Math (pg. 35) If you are currently in Algebra: Geometry ABC Or Accel. Geometry AB/ Accel. Algebra 2A/Trig* If your are currently in Geometry: Algebra 2 ABC Or Algebra 2 ABC/Trig (college bound) If you are currently in Accel. Geom: Accel. Algebra 2B/ Trig/Accel Pre-Calc AB * Please notice recommendation of B average or better for success in the Accelerated math track. Students should talk with their current math teacher if they have any questions.

Required Courses • Physical Education (pg. 23) • Choose 1: • Lifetime Activities • Strength Training • For Athletes I* • For Personal Fitness I* *If you are participating in a sport which requires strength training, you should register for the correct trimester. For example, Football Players should take Strength Training for Athletes I-Fall . If you are not participating in athletics you should register for Strength Training for Personal Fitness I.

  9. Required Courses • Science (pg. 41) • BiologyI, II, III If you are currently taking Biology you will need to register for Chemistry. Please see your counselor or Biology teacher if you have questions.

  10. Required Courses • Social Studies (pg. 44) • World History • AP World History* • *College level course taught in the high school by specially trained teachers. You may earn • free college credits depending on the score you receive on the exam in May and the college • you will be attending after high school. Please notice the recommended GPA of 3.5 or • higher for success in the AP class. Talk with your Social Studies teacher if you have questions.

  11. Required Courses Arts You will need to take at least 2 credits listed on page 7 under The Arts before graduation. If you are planning on attending a 4 year college/University immediately after high school, these credits will need to be “Fine Arts”, which are any Art or Music Courses.

  12. CollegeEntrance Requirements Some colleges or universities require additional courses than what is needed for your diploma. Typical requirements are listed on page 10. For example: most 4 year colleges require at least 2 years of the same world language, a full year of fine arts (3 trimesters), at least 3 full years of science (9 trimesters) and 4 full years of English (12 trimesters).

  13. NCAA(pg.11) • College Bound student athletes who are interested in playing sports at the college level for an NCAA Division I or II school must qualify through the NCAA Eligibility Center. • www.eligibilitycenter.org

Electives • Once you have registered for all required classes, the remainder of the classes you register for are electives. • Choose electives based on the following criteria: • Courses that will help you prepare for post high school education • Courses that will help you prepare for your future career • Courses that you are interested in and enjoy • You will need to choose 18 courses

  15. Alternates • You will now pick 4alternate choices. The alternates are used if one of your 18 choices does not fit in your schedule. These choices should be classes that you are interested in taking but are not your top choices.

  17. Zero Hour Options • Tartan Offers several courses at 7:00 am. • Courses that may be offered include Physical Education options and Career Investigations. Registration Forms will be available in the spring.

  18. Tartan 4 Year Plan • Turn to page 54 and write in the classes you are registering to take during 10th grade. • Please continue with grades 11 and 12 by writing in classes that you are planning on taking. This is a rough draft only. Each year you will update your 4 year plan.

  21. Registration • You will be registering on Jan. 28th or 29th with the counselors during your English class. • Bring your registration book and 4 year plan with you. • Your need to discuss your choices with your parents before registering.
