Student Responsibility • Middle school is a time of increased expectations • ISMS and parent goals for 6th, 7th and 8th grade • Parents and teachers begin the process of giving students more ownership and responsibility for their school work

Lunch (a new adventure) • Students deposit lunch money into their account or money can be deposited online • Lunch is purchased by using a student ID card (If lost replacement cost is $5.00) • There is no credit or temporary ID cards • Sandwich and milk are available if a student has no money in their account
Lunch • Students loaning money to friends • Students buying a friend’s lunch - A regular lunch costs $1.65 ~ Second lunch purchased on the same day costs $2.50 • Extra items can get expensive • Vending machines are also available

Resource Program • 6th grade resource – Mrs. Cortney Boley • Assists students/teachers by helping meet the needs of students with differing ability levels • Helps determine if additional testing is needed • Provides annual case conference reviews for identified students
School ClinicMrs. Kandy Gay – RN,BSN • Responsible for: • Monitoring student health • Communicating with parents and staff • Health screening – vision and hearing • Distribution of medications sent from home
Medications • All medications must be brought in by the parent/guardian • Parent/guardian must fill out request for administering medication forms (one for over the counter and one for any prescription medications)
Medications • All medications must be in the original container and have a current expiration date • Tylenol can be purchased for the entire year for $1.00
Health Forms • Complete both Consent for medical treatment forms (One for Extra Curricular and one for ISMS) • Complete Student Health Forms • Call and update the nurse anytime there are changes in your child’s health status • Keep immunization records current

ISMS Registration • At registration, you will receive your child's schedule, a list of supplies that are needed and other important information • While registering, take time to visit your child’s team area
ISMS Registration • You will also be able to: • Purchase a Physical Education shirt • Purchase an activity pass • Deposit money into your child’s meal account • Pay all student fees • Speak to our transportation director about bus routes • You will need to write more than one check if you choose to make payments.
Considerations • Parental supervision becomes more important than ever • Know where your adolescent is and what he/she is doing • Check the places your son or daughter wants to go • Are responsible adults around – adults who will not allow what you do not allow? • Are they really being supervised?
Considerations • Keep resisting the pressure to base your parental decisions on “what everyone else is doing” ~ “Everyone else is doing it,” is too often an opening for poor choices • Help your adolescent understand that being “popular” is not what is important in life ~ Many people have made a positive impact on the world by standing apart from the mainstream
