New York State COURSE REQUIREMENTS • English 4 credits • Social Studies 4 credits • Science 3 credits • Life Science • Physical Science • Mathematics 3 credits • Art or Music 1 credit • Foreign Language 1 credit • Health ½ credit • PE 2 credits CREDIT REQUIREMENTS= 22.0 total TEST REQUIREMENTS: 65 or higher REGENTS Diploma: ELA Regents exam Global History Regents US History Regents exam Science Regents exam Math exam REGENTS with ADV. DESIGNATION: 2nd Science Regents exam 2nd and 3rd Math Regents exams 3 credits of foreign language Graduation Requirements

CREDITS Must pass a course with a 65 or higher to earn credit If a class meets every day, all year…. 1 credit If a class meets every day for ½ year…. ½ credit PE meets every other day all year …… ½ credit Promotion is determined by the number of credits earned. Students must earn 4 credits for promotion to 10th grade. Students must earn 10 credits for promotion to 11th grade.

  4. 9 Period Day 7:30 – 2:00 • 1. English 1R or 1H • 2. Global History 1R or 1H • Integrated Algebra or Geometry • Living Environment or Earth Science • Lab / PE or Swim • Art or Music Requirement • Foreign Language or Elective • Academic Support, AIS, Elective or Study Hall • LUNCH Students that score level one or level two on the NYS ELA or Math exams will be scheduled for AIS Reading, AIS ELA, or AIS Math. These supports help students increase their skills so they can succeed at the high school level.

Earth Science or Living Environment LIFE SCIENCE PHYSICAL SCIENCE Solar System and Space Energy and Earth Processes Earth’s Atmosphere Meteorology Water Cycle/Climates Weathering & Erosion Minerals and Rocks Geologic History • Plants & Animals • Human body • Genetics and genetic engineering • Evolution • Reproduction and development Completion of Labs & Lab Reports are required to meet the state lab requirement and remain in the class

  6. Art or Music Requirement – 1 credit Choose ONE of the following: • Studio Art • Music In Our Lives • Mixed Choir • Band • Orchestra • Drawing, Design, & Production (DDP) • DDP/ Project Lead the Way (PLTW)

PE… To Swim or Not to Swim Need ONE PE class for the Fall and ONE for the Spring ¼ credit of Swim is required for graduation – 9th or 10th grade **Some student take swim all year, every year to earn their 2 PE credits Swim - MUST change and participate Bathing Suit – Girls: one piece or full coverage tankini. Bikinis allowed if covered with a t-shirt. Boys: swim trunks, t-shirt optional Towel Lock for locker- bring from Strough or purchase at the RFA Knight Spot PE – MUST change and participate Shorts or Sweatpants Sneakers T-shirt or Sweatshirt Lock for locker – bring from Strough or purchase at the RFA Knight Spot

Skills for Success Attendance Organization – purchase an agenda Be on time to school and classes – 4 minutes passing Be prepared- You are allowed to carry your backpacks Plan your time wisely– homework needs to be a priority Ask Questions Get extra help as soon as you begin to struggle- everyone will need help at some time. -After School Program – help from a different teacher -Stay after school with your teacher -Talk to your guidance counselor and your parents Get Involved in extracurricular clubs, sports, activities
