  2. 2005-2006 Kid on Pasture Only 2007 Supplemented on Pasture StudySIPAC, Jasper IN • Gestational period divided in to (3) 50-day periods or trimesters • Supplementation of grazing began on day 50 (2nd trimester) • Supplement rate 2nd trimester at 1% of BW, • 3rd trimester supplemented at 1.5% BW, • Lactation period (90-days to weaning) supplement at 1% BW • Does averaged 94.6 lbs LBW, • Supplement rates 1.04 lbs and 1.54 lbs (AF basis)

Why Are We Seeing These Differences? • Endophyte effect • Dry Matter Intake may peak at 4% of body weight (DMI Summer and Fall 4%) • Lack of nutrient density during the rapid spring growth period due to high moisture content • Grazing a monoculture pasture, reduced pasture diversity • Need for improved milk production
