Introduction • ACTECO : IP-SMEs (FP6) – priority 3 • Outcome from PLASMATECH • 3 main fields: textiles, food applications and biomedical devices • Breakthrough innovation  objectives defined by end-users • Innovation by plasma: low pressure & atmospheric pressure • Project: 10 work packages (6 RTD) • 26 partners: 70% SMEs • Start of the project: 1th of May 2005 • Duration of the project: 4 years Marc Pauwels

Objectives • Support less RTD intensive sectors in development of new products and production systems • Development new plasma systems  hyper-functional nano-coatings and durable surface engineering • Modeling plasma processes • Reduce waste, use of hazardous substances and resource consumption • Improved performance of existing products • Creation of radically new products • Enhancing the competitiveness of European companies Marc Pauwels
